Weardale jazz venue falls victim to Covid-19

Yesterday's Northern Echo reported the permanent closure of the Black Bull in Frosterley, Weardale. The north of England regional newspaper quotes a post on the pub's Facebook: Please be aware that this decision was not an easy one and not taken lightly

Over many years the rural pub supported jazz with regular visits by the West Jesmond Rhythm Kings and, latterly, the Vieux Carre Jazzmen. In April the VCJ reluctantly cancelled a sold out appearance at the Weardale venue due to the then escalating pandemic. Is the closure announcement the first instance of a jazz venue in this part of the world going to the wall due to Covid-19?
