Jack Amblin (washboard, percussion, kazoo, bones, jug, ukulele, whistle, vocals); Martyn Roper (guitar, banjo, harmonica, kazoo, vocals)
Jack Amblin and Martyn Roper were making a third appearance in Newcastle, previous visits to Billy Bootlegger's and Bar Loco winning them new fans along the way. In addition, a Punchbowl gig rescheduled once, if not twice, looks likely to be moved again to the other side of the pandemic.
The Cannonball Rag from 1911 as an instrumental featured Roper's guitar picking skills. A new Hawaiian-style number, Lazing by the Lazy River (lap steel guitar from Roper, Amblin ukulele), Beep Beep (comp. Amblin & Roper), When You're Smiling, all delivered by an array of instruments, principally washboard and guitar (with vocals), Roper performing the earthier, country blues numbers. To close out their set our Leeds based duo charged it up with Shake, Rattle and Roll.
