This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. EP Review: Amber Weekes - My Romance "A Special Valentine"

Definitely one for Valentine's Day, two romantic songs to share. And also issued as a taste of Amber Weekes upcoming album, which is ‘Round Midnight – Reimagined.

Songs wonderfully well interpreted, a slow, thoughtful, version of the Rodgers/Hart My Romance, with strings and luscious piano. Then an interesting rendering of The Way He Makes Me Feel, (Legrand, Bergman). Sung as a duet with Mon David, each taking alternate 'she or 'he' lines, explaining all the delightfully confusing emotions felt at the very beginning of a relationship.  

The publicity leaflet describes Amber Weekes as an up-and-coming jazz singer but surely she has already arrived! She hails from Los Angeles and performs there regularly. She has sung in many Southern California clubs and also at Las Vegas at Caesar's Palace. Ms Weekes studied singing with the great Sue Raney and recently released a Christmas album The Gathering.
