I started the evening with Braised Lamb Broth with Pearl Barley - not to be confused with the late Pearl Bailey. In the meantime, the trio played Wave. A gentle bossa that didn't disturb the diners and went down well with the aforementioned broth which was delicious.
Yesterdays featured a Neil Harland bass solo that blended in nicely with my Sauté of Beef, Gratin Dauphinoise and Green Peppercorns - almost like having an extra vegetable on the plate.
Graham Don brought his vocal chords into play on Moon Dance and later sang Georgia on my Mind - a la Ray Charles - and The Carpenters' Masquerade. Laura was given the romantic instrumental treatment, followed by a number that could have been Solar, Dolphin Dance or something entirely different. It was familiar but I couldn't place it.
Street Life coupled with Toffee and Pear Galette with Ice Cream was a tasty combination that worked well for me particularly when helped on its way by a bottle of Black Sheep.
Musically it wasn't an earth shattering evening. Not a jazz crowd by any means and the trio tactfully kept it low key - I'd like to hear Graham on an out and out jazz gig.
