This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Black Swan Jam Session - Oct. 26

Stuart Collingwood (piano); Paul Grainger (bass); Rob Walker (drums) + Martin Waugh (piano); Michael Mather (drums); Jan Spencelayh, Kit Giroux (vocals); Steve Summers, Ian White, Paul Gowland, Nick Gould (tenor saxes); Andy Lawrenson (violin); David Gray (trombone); Charles & Laurence Harrison, David Midas & Jimmy ? (guitars). There was also Chris and Will and somebody else on drums and maybe a hundred others that I've forgotten to mention.

Suffice to say that the fortnightly jam is back and with a bang!

This jam didn't carry no passengers so I'm not going to signal out any individual performance. Each and everyone, apart from the noisy gossipers behind me, will have their own choices as to who hit the spot. 

It was the best of times - it was the worst of times - but, that latter remark only applies to the Tyne & Wear Metro. Still - that's life! Lance.
