The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Livestream: In the Moment with Ken Peplowski - Oct. 8

There are moments when I want to duck down behind the parapets and chill out and listen to music that won't change the world. Ihis is one of those nights.

Peplowski has long been one of my favourite clarinettists - ever since I heard him in an amazing session at the Saville Exchange in North Shields with Marty Grosz. And here he is again on tenor and clarinet and as good a man (get it?) as I've heard on the latter instrument since that great session. Houston I know from his gigs with Daryl [Sherman] - if he's good enough for Daryl...

Ken told us the programme in advance giving chapter and verse on composers, films, original versions etc which meant that the rest of the stream would be music non-stop.

I'm aware that some of our seekers of wisdom and truth may not find their answers here but, until they do, it's not a bad stopping off place - who knows? it may be their Damascus! Personally, I found it quite delightful but I'd already discovered the truth ... Lance
