This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Juliet Kelly's Jazz Kids @ EFG London Jazz Festival

Call it second childhood or what you will but I enjoyed this delightful half hour or so even though it was aimed at children in the 2 - 6-years-old bracket which put me out of the age group by a country mile or more!

Nevertheless, that not withstanding, I was captivated by the easy way in which Juliet Kelly (surely) connected with her young virtual audience as she related the nursery rhyme about the Three Jazz Pigs - Sarah, Ella & Nina ably abetted by Nadia on keys, herself no mean manipulator of the Nord keyboard.

Juliet incorporated Over the Rainbow, Tea For Two, Feeling Good and If You're Feeling Happy Clap Your Hands into the story whilst I went along with the actions although I opted out of jumping up and down.

Just another example of the diversity offered by this festival.

PS: Of course, let's not forget that Zoë Gilby did something similar at Sage Gateshead a couple of years back.
