This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Count Basie Exhibition in Red Bank

Lydia Diel, a dear friend of mine who, like myself, attended Jarrow Central School - albeit in different years -  knowing of my jazz interests kindly sent me a cutting from the Asbury Park Press regarding a Count Basie exhibition in the town of his birth, Red Bank, New Jersey. Lydia, who lives nearby, took this photo of myself outside the theatre that bears his name when I stayed with her a few years back.

Unfortunately, the article is spread over a couple of broadsheet pages so I'm unable to scan it. However, there is an informative trailer giving an insight into the exhibition - link. 

Thank you Lydia, if I visit NJ again or you return to Jarrow we'll crack open a bottle of wine!
