(Press release)Brandishing a rare style of composition incorporating an eclectic mix of modern jazz, surrealism through to electronica, multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Fitzgerald delivers a boldness and an intensity in his latest release ‘The Cottage’, out on all digital platforms on November 26th.
Drafting in a number of local creatives from his native home of Newcastle, in the North-East of England, ‘The Cottage’ is a powerful progression from his debut project, ‘Ambedo’ which was commissioned by BBC Arts & Arts Council England, exploring mental health disorders and conditions and through the lens of musical dissonance, harmony and transition.
Speaking about his latest creation, Fitzgerald said:
“The Cottage is a musical exploration of our safe space. Our own relative haven, exempt of all negativity, criticism, harassment and any other emotional or physical harm. A place that we feel separated from the world and our discrepancies with it. It comes at a time where some of us are denied access to our safe space, both physically and mentally, so the hope is to give the listener a portal to wherever theirs might be - even if it’s just for a few minutes.”
“It’s a reflection of the manic euphoria of ultimate freedom and the meditative tranquillity of eventual peace.”
Produced by Josh Ingledew at Blank Studios, Benjamin Fitzgerald’s ‘The Cottage’ is out November 26th and will be available on all digital platforms.
