Vinyl here, vinyl there...

Today (Saturday 24) is Record Store Day. What?! Hasn't there already been a Record Store Day this year? Come to think of it, hasn't there been not one but two Record Store Days? Yes, and today is the third of them. The pandemic scuppered the original date back in April so, determined not to be defeated, independent record shops have bounced back, time and again. Doors open early today with many goodies on offer.

Here on Tyneside, RSD's epicentre is Newcastle with half a dozen independents participating in the popular day. There's Beatdown, Beyond Vinyl and Vinyl Guru, all a stone's throw from Newcastle Arts Centre and Prohibition Bar. Then there's RPM Music tucked away behind Pumphrey's Blues Cafe just off Cloth Market, and up around Monument, there is Reflex (in 'normal' times the outlet for gig tickets) and JG Windows Ltd. So much to choose from, your correspondent has half an eye on Monk's Palo Alto...on vinyl, of course!
