Bebop Spoken There

Noah Preminger: "The U.S.A - the greatest country in the world - didn't lift a finger to help their 3ooo-plus citizens in Morocco. We were abandoned by our own government." - (DownBeat June 2020).

Dave Rempis:Ten years from now, I can see musicians streaming concerts in real time and charging a minimal amount for people to watch.” - (DownBeat September 2013)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

COVID-19

In the current climate we are doing our best to keep everyone up to date. All gigs, as we all know, are off.

However, good old YouTube has plenty to offer both old and new to help us survive whilst housebound. Plus now is a good time to stock up on your CDs.

Also, keep an eye out for live streaming sessions.

Alternatively, you could do as they do in Italy and sing from your balcony.

Today

As we all know there are no live gigs taking place in the immediate future. However, any links to jazz streaming that are deemed suitable - i.e. with a professional approach - will be considered for posting.

Keep Music Live!

In keeping with the Musicians' Union mantra  - Keep Music Live - let's have three of your favourite live albums. Here's three for starters...

Buddy Tate: Buddy Tate and the Muse Allstars Live at Sandy's. Tate with Ray Bryant, piano, George Duvivier, bass, and Alan Dawson drums. Two companion albums were released on the Muse label - they're equally as good! - featuring Arnett Cobb and Cleanhead Vinson working with the same A-list rhythm section.

Miles Davis: Miles Davis in Europe - Recorded Live at the Antibes Jazz Festival. The mid-sixties quintet with George Coleman on tenor sax.

Gerry Richardson: Gerry Richardson's Big Idea Cookin' at the Cluny. One of the great bands and a collector's item to boot!

Full House - Wes Montgomery, Johnny Griffin, Jimmy Cobb, Wynton Kelly & Paul Chambers.
Concert by the Sea - Errol Garner
Jim Hall Live at Bourbon Street, Toronto with Terry Clarke & Don Thompson
All great but my overall favourite is Full House.

So many to choose from. I'd have picked Concert by the Sea but, rather than duplicate I'll go for:
Quintet of the Year - Jazz at Massey Hall. Bird, Diz and co. in Toronto.

JATP: Perm any one from...

Mingus in Monterey.

And here's 3 vocal ones:
Sinatra at The Sands. Sings great and the Basie band swings but what clinches it are the monologues!

Buddy Greco - Live at Mister Kelly's. Not just a great singer but a fine pianist too.

Tie: Ella in Berlin (Mack the Knife)/Peggy Lee, George Shearing - Beauty and the Beat (You Came a Long Way From St. Louis).
