Jazz in Newcastle - 1961

Trombonist Gordon Solomon reminded me of this event from almost 60 years ago that featured some of the northeast's greatest bands and musicians of the time. Most, fortunately not all, are long gone including the Brothers Carr (Mike and Ian) who went on to greater things at home and abroad.

I think the event took place at the legendary Down Beat Club on Carliol Square in 1961 - ah the memories!

Thank you Gordon.
