This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Remembering Alan Palliser

Here's the photo of my dad in the Alley cats. 
I have asked my mam when it was taken and she thinks it's the early 60's. 
She can't remember all of their names, from left to right - 2nd left is Joe Errington, 3rd left is John Franklin, then Bob Forster on drums, then there's Bill  - possibly Wright - but she can't remember. And then my dad of course on piano. 
We have some other photos too, stored away, of the River City Jazzmen mainly, I will have a look soon and send them too. 
Thanks again for the lovely mention for my dad, he would have been chuffed

Great player and nice man .I played with Alan quite a lot .Unfortunately out of the country so i couldn`t get to his funeral RIP
