This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Album review: Stu Collingwood - The View

Stu Collingwood (piano)

14 tracks of solo piano by one of the northeast's top musicians. Impeccably played originals that reach out effortlessly to the listener.

Stu Collingwood is known by most jazz fans as the perfect accompanist behind a singer, a man for all seasons at a jam session or leading a piano, bass & drums trio. However, he is rarely heard in a solo setting such as this but, cometh the hour, cometh the man as the old anonymous saying goes and, with this digital release, that hour is here.

Dazzling runs, deep chords, dark undertones, diverse moods and delicious harmonies make this an album of sheer delight.

Stu, on Twitter, described it as cheap which is doing himself a disservice - it's an inexpensive gem as buyers will discover by following this Bandcamp link.
