The sixth and final of Strictly Smokin's Not So Big Band sessions at the Prohibition Bar saw Keith Robinson flying like a bird. Freed from the rigours of synchronised phrasing, matching vibratos and suits, he sought the answer to the eternal question of What is This Thing Called Love? Musically speaking, he answered his own question.
Graham Don was featured on The Second Time Around - lots of fat, juicy chords - his fingers dancing the light fantastic and leaving no note unturned.
Joy Spring once more had searing sax and, being December, the obligatory Xmas quote - Ho! Ho! Ho!
Shout it out loud! Don's solo on Whisper Not fully deserved, at the very least, a partridge in a pear tree.
A Weaver of Dreams - a lovely tune - with more Xmas fun early on - Ho! Ho! - and even a seasonal one to finish off with - Ho!
So Nice was well named, Nardis did Miles proud and Recorda Me took us out on a high. Keith had ran out of Xmas quotes so he stuck in you're a dirty rascal - maybe some one had nicked the mince pies - before Guy kicked the kit around for a rousing finish.
What am I going to do next Sunday? Pro Bar will be missed.
