I Thought About You and, as I listened, I thought about hearing Sinatra singing it on Songs for Swinging Lovers. The first Sinatra LP I ever bought and still my most played one. Paul's piano solo was nice.
Beautiful Love, just about as good as it gets and Triste, one of Jobim's better tunes, sounded equally fine despite, or possibly because of, the absence of a metronomic bossa nova beat.
A slurp of tea or is it coffee? and we're In a Mellow Tone. Ah! Bluesette - my favourite jazz waltz - love this tune. Terrific version.
Erroll Garner's Misty may be one of the most overworked standards in the jazz canon but here it sounds as fresh as ever.
Monk's Dream - someone once said that Monk's tunes sound great when played by Hank Jones - he could have added ...and Paul Edis to that quote.
An original with words, The Long Way Round based on the Tyne and Wear Metro, the bit that takes in Longbenton, Shiremoor and the Monkseatons although the stations weren't named - I suppose they're not as charismatic as Barstow, San Bernadino, Gallop, New Mexico etc.
