Bebop Spoken There

Jennifer Wharton: "People forget that the trombone is so glorious. It can be like going to church, or getting ready for battle. It can be a lot of things....For a longtime I was the only female trombonist in New York," - (DownBeat May 2021)

Paul Edis - Livestream #15 - June 26

Paul Edis (piano/vocal).

Livestream #15 and Paul "the piano" Edis, like that ol' man river, just keeps rollin' along. I've lost count of the number of tunes he's played over this 15 week period and, as yet, without repetition. No mean achievement particularly as there's no throwaway tunes to pad it out - each one given the meticulous interpretation it deserves.

This week we had This I Dig of You; Night & Day (vocal); One Hand, One Heart; Pulse (original); Alice in Wonderland; Recado Bossa Nova; Young and Foolish; My Romance; Mr Hipster (original); Somewhere and, to finish, The Preacher.

PS: I'd just finished my review when Russell scanned me a copy of the Mr Hipster tee shirt that Paul had made reference to which put paid to my record attempt at an earlier posting (2:04pm)!
