This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Emma Fisk's Hot Club du Nord set to take to The Globe Stage on August 9 (8:00pm)

I'm really pleased to have some positive news to report on the gig front. While we're not back to normal yet, we have recently confirmed a live gig for August 9th at The Globe in Newcastle and hope that you might be able to join us from the comfort of your living room!

Hot Club du Nord will be playing a one hour set  live in the venue and this will be live-streamed via YouTube and Facebook. Details on how to book a ticket are available on the Jazz Co-op website here:


This new series of  live-streamed events from the venue begins on July 12th with the award winning Zoe Gilby Quartet and continues fortnightly throughout the summer with a suggested minimum donation of £5.00 per event.
You do need to book your place before the event so it's probably worth having a look at how it works if you may be interested!



Although it's not the same as being at a venue in person, having 'attended' some live-streamed events during lock-down I have to say there are some unexpected benefits - not least the ability to enjoy in your garden or from your sofa maybe in the company of your favourite pet!

I also enjoy the 'chat' with fellow audience members who could be anywhere in the world, plus no expensive bar prices and no need to get out of your pyjamas if you don't want to!


We do hope you will be able to 'join' us and provide a geographically eclectic audience on the night. Maybe we should have a prize for the attendee the greatest number of miles distant from Newcastle?!

Hoping that everyone is keeping well and safe and enjoying the Summer weather. My roses and lavender are smelling delicious and the fruit patch is starting to provide raspberries, strawberries and gooseberries!
