Bebop Spoken There

Jennifer Wharton: "People forget that the trombone is so glorious. It can be like going to church, or getting ready for battle. It can be a lot of things....For a longtime I was the only female trombonist in New York," - (DownBeat May 2021)

Rock 'n' bankroll... music acts given governmen grants.

Reading in the i newspaper, under the above headline, I discover that the Department for Trade's Music Exports Growth Scheme has allocated £295,000 to artists to help fund projects across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
The scene, seemingly, supports small UK music companies by contributing to artists' marketing campaigns and promotional activity.
The breakdown shows thus:
Rock acts - 34%
Pop acts   - 25%
Jazz & blues musicians 3%.
Total 62%.
So who's trousered the other 38%?
Significantly, rock and pop are classified as 'acts' whereas jazz and blues are 'musicians' which we knew all the time.

Link goes to the "Irish Independent" - different newspaper to the "Independent", which is now different also to the "i".

I get the "i" - don't remember that article - intersting though. I like your quip about rock "acts"...
