This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Vieux Carré Jazzmen's Alternative Venue

The Vieux Carré Jazzmen are now alternating their weekly sessions in South Gosforth between The Victory and The Millstone pubs. Next Thursday (September 17) they are at THE VICTORY, Killingworth Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, South Gosforth NE3 1SY. Tel: 0191 285 1254. 1.00 - 3.00pm. The following Thursday (September 24), it’s THE MILLSTONE, Haddricks Mill Road, South Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 1QL. Tel: 0191 285 3429. 1.00 - 3.00pm. 
Both pubs offer an excellent choice of food and ales and it's just a short walk from one to the other. 
You'll have no problem finding them on a Thursday afternoon in South Gosforth – just listen for the dulcet tones of the banjo floating on the breeze.
