I've just heard that Ray Harley had a bad fall last Saturday and fractured his elbow. Apparently it's a bad break and Ray has undergone an operation in Darlington Hospital. I'm sure we all wish Ray, trumpet player with the Maine Street Jazzmen, a speedy recovery and a quick return to the local jazz scene.

We visited Ray in Hospital on Friday. He has had a successful operation to replace his right elbow joint and is recovering extremely well. He expects to be out of hospital after the weekend, and he hopes to be back with MSJ as soon as possible, however the band have deps arranged to cover gigs for the next few weeks.
He tells us that he can also play left handed!!
First George Laing slid off the roof.
Then Pete Gilligan fell off a wall.
Chris Finch slipped on the bar room floor
Now Ray Harley's had a great fall.
Life's tough for a jazz musician.
But George is back on his feet
And Pete's been to Odessa
Pianist Chris plays the trumpet
So Ray you know 'twill get better
Because you're a jazz musician.
