Bebop Spoken There

Jennifer Wharton: "People forget that the trombone is so glorious. It can be like going to church, or getting ready for battle. It can be a lot of things....For a longtime I was the only female trombonist in New York," - (DownBeat May 2021)

Duets by Sting

Sinatra did it, Tony Bennett did it, maybe even educated fleas did it and now Sting has done it.

Done what?, you ask.

Put together an album of duets from over the years. I haven't actually heard the CD/LP - as of yet, no crumbs have been thrown in our direction. However, I did discover this clip on YouTube of our boy singing In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning with Chris Botti on trumpet.

The most intriguing collaboration, I'm sure, will be Sting and Herbie Hancock's version of My Funny Valentine. This is the bizarre combination you might come up with in the pub as it gets towards closing time. Who knows but that it might work?

There's a two page feature in today's Sunday Express.

Tracks: 1. Little Something with Melody Gardot2. It’s Probably Me with Eric Clapton3. Stolen Car with Mylène Farmer4. Desert Rose with Cheb Mami5. Rise & Fall with Craig David6. Whenever I Say Your Name with Mary J. Blige7. Don’t Make Me Wait with Shaggy8. Reste with GIMS9. We'll Be Together with Annie Lennox10. L'amour C'est Comme Un Jour with Charles Aznavour11.
