It's time like these we
need musicians and the music they create the most. But too many are worried
about how they will pay the bills during this crisis.
On Easter
Monday (today - 13th April), we will be celebrating UK Music Day.
The entire day has been created to
show support for the British jazz community which has been strongly affected by
the ongoing COVID-19 crisis with most or in some cases, all income drying up.
The Musicians' Union has calculated that British musicians have lost over £20
million since the outbreak, with the majority of musicians being self-employed.
It's time like these we need
musicians and the music they create the most. But too many are worried about
how they will pay the bills during this crisis.
That's why
we're proud to announce that for UK Music Day, Jazz FM will be
fundraising for the Musicians' Union to help support the jazz
and music community. The MU Coronavirus Hardship Fund is
working alongside Help Musicians UK and PRS For Music to help as many musicians
as they possibly can with funding and advice at this unprecedented and
challenging time.
Your
donations will go to Musicians' Union members who are facing genuine financial
hardship as a result of the coronavirus outbreak and its impact.
