This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Support the Petition to save the BBC Big Band from cuts.

Seems as though the BBC Big Band is subject to the  cuts - is nothing sacred these days?
If you object to the BBC's treatment of the BBC Big Band please sign the petition. go to it from here.
For god's sake they are a national institution! This shouldn't be allowed. - Below is the letter to Jeff Smith "Head of Music at not everyone's favourite auntie."

The BBC Big Band is a national institution and has been for the last 48 years - they have been the inspiration for musicians all over the world and are the epitome of a world class band. The radio programme "Big band special" is being cut and the maida vale sessions are being cut to 20% of what they currently do!! A cut of 80%. We are petitioning that these cuts do not go ahead.
