This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Radio Russell

It’s a Radio 3 New Day for Jazz Line-Up
Five o'clock Saturday means one thing…Jazz Record Requests, followed at six o'clock by Jazz Line-Up. Yes, the Sunday night Radio 3 programme moves to a new, regular Saturday slot following JRR. Tune in to In Tune Monday (4:30 pm) to hear Jacqui Dankworth and on Friday (4:30 pm) Stacey Kent will be in the studio. 
Monday evening’s Jazz on 3 (11:00 pm) is full of promise for fans of free jazz with highlights of this year’s Vision Festival from New York. 
On Tuesday evening make sure you're in front of the telly to watch Later Live...with Jools Holland (BBC 2, 10:00 pm) to hear the wonderful Gregory Porter.
