This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Future Passed Trio @ Vortex Jazz Club Dalston . Sept 21.

I am not a trained musician, but I've been listening to jazz since Adam was a lad, and I do like to recognise  a tune, and hear a lyric  I can relate to.  There are exceptions to the rule and this  experience was my Sea Change.
The Trio was cohesive, but individuals were given generous  solo space.   With one exception,  a McCoy Tyner piece, the main bulk of the varied set list was written by Tony Kofi,.  I didn't need lyrics, the arrangements spoke volumes, and the musicality was magnetic. Seeing/Hearing is Believing, get to see these guys, or you will never know what a cracking night you missed.
