Next week, May 15, we're not playing at the venue, as the Chilli has (would you believe) the upstairs room occupied by the Newcastle City Council for some sort of meeting. It's scheduled to finish at 6:30 - 6:45 PM, but these things do run on, so on reflection, we don't think there's enough time to set the stage and room up for our night, so we're just going to cancel it.
We are, however, there as usual tomorrow night (May 8). We've been having some good nights, what with Don Forbes on trumpet, Rachel on alto saxophone, Mike Papapavlou on guitar, Ray Truscott on bass, Bazz on piano as usual, a new participant, a friend of Don's named Richard, who is a very good flute player, and he's now turning up with a tenor saxophone, on which he's pretty good, too. Not to mention the great Paul Gowland, who turns up regularly on tenor saxophone and Norman 'the doorman', who is getting better weekly on drums. We've also had some young players, such as James, who plays great bass, and Matthew, so young he comes to play drums with his parents in tow!
