This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. EP review: Judy Whitmore - This is Home (self)

Judy Whitmore (vocals) + Chris Walden Orchestra.

This is Home celebrates America's 250th birthday (July 4, 1776 - ?) featuring Judy Whitmore on six patriotic songs appropriate to the age they were composed. Less so in the current American environment.

Judy Whitmore is an excellent singer and I love the two previous albums of hers that I have had the pleasure of hearing: Isn't it Romantic (2022) Let's Fall in Love (2025). This album however, is a different kettle of fish - Elvis' American Trilogy springs to mind.

Completists will want it - others will try before they buy. Lance
