This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: Mouth of the Tyne Festival

This weekend sees the annual Mouth of the Tyne Festival held on Tynemouth's Front St. and, in the shadow of the iconic Tynemouth Priory, the Jazz Stage will host bands ancient and Modern. Over the years the festival has been subject to the vagaries of British weather and some years I've been burnt to a frazzle, whilst other years I've emerged like a survivor from SS Titanic. So, as there ain't no roof overhead it's advisable to consult the weather oracle.

After doing just that it looks like the hot weather will prevail and the order of the day will be factor 30, a parasol and a supply of cool drinks for the hydration breaks. This will enable you to enjoy the delights on offer. Lance
