A Christmas Eve brunch in the Ouseburn. Ernest's festive fixtures Hand to Mouth - that's Lindsay Hannon and Bradley Johnston - once more secreted themselves into a corner. It's been like this these past few years. Tucked away behind the Biscuit Factory (selling art work not biscuits!), this now traditional booking of Lindsay and Bradley finds the independent cafe/bar/venue packed to the rafters.
Hand to Mouth came prepared ready to play some festive tunes. Some of the brunching clientele paid scant attention to the music, that's their loss, others were more attentive. Singer Lindsay and guitarist Bradley are past masters in pared down, intimate duo performance. Born of a love of the Ella Fitzgerald-Joe Pass partnership, their set has evolved into a polished presentation. This being the season of good will, we were treated to a first set selection of festive classics ranging from Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! to White Christmas. Lindsay's endlessly inventive vocals, Bradley's stellar guitar playing, for some it heralds the start of Christmas. Remember Lindsay and Bradley aren't just for Christmas, be sure to hear them at a venue somewhere near you during the coming year. Russell
