Advertised variously as a 'jam session' and 'Afternoon Delight', it wasn't until the doors opened at noon that all would become clear as to who was involved and what form the session would take. First on the premises, toting a home made stick bass, Brendan Rowley. In time, Rowley would be joined by three guitarists - one being would be cornetist and swing dancer Alec J Gamble, another being Alan Jones and a third, name unknown.
Frenchie occupied the drum stool. It soon became clear that this wasn't going to be a jazz jam session, far from it. More boogie-shuffle Americana than jazz - The Gambler, Folsom Prison Blues, Desperados. Rowley sang most of the numbers (loosely adhering to the melody), ranging from St James' Infirmary to Don't Think Twice to Johnny B Goode to Honky Tonk Women. Later in the set, Prohibition Bar proprietor Mitch Mitchell joined the party playing piano on House of the Rising Sun. Russell
