Adrian Cox (clarinet, vocals); Dave Archer
(guitar)
A busy man is Adrian Cox. A Saturday night gig with Buster Bloodvessel in Manchester, an early Sunday morning flight to London, taking to the Sunday Service pulpit at one o'clock to preach the N'Awlins' gospel (the subject of this review) with a rehearsal to follow ahead of a sold out gig at Ronnie Scott's this evening.
Joining Adrian today, none other than guitarist Dave Archer, fresh from his Art Tatum gigs up north with Joe Webb and Will Sach. Our duo kicked off with Dinah (with a Beatles' Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! refrain thrown in for good measure!). Adrian's vocals are never less than heart-felt and Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans? proved the point. Our man referred to his busy schedule saying: Who needs sleep? It's overrated.
A couple of contrasting numbers - Riverboat Shuffle and Adrian's co-written tune with Kansas Smitty's Giacomo Smith, Take Me Home, followed by It's a Sin to Tell a Lie and Just One of Those Things, concluded another uplifting Sunday Service. Amen! Russell
Set list: Dinah; When I Grow
Too Old to Dream; Indiana; Do You Know What it Means to
Miss New Orleans?; Riverboat Shuffle; Take Me
Home; It's a Sin to Tell a Lie; Just One of Those Things

Yeah Yeah Yeah! This was an amazing Sunday Service - and talking of sleep, I recall Warren Zevon's song about sleeping all you want when you're dead!
