This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Meanwhile, Down in Dixieland ...

The Crescent Club, overlooking Cullercoats Bay, has announced that, after a few stops and starts, they are recommencing their popular Jazz in the Afternoon sessions on Monday August 16. It has yet to be confirmed as to when the Vieux Carré Jazzmen's Wednesday gig at the same venue will stomp off again.

Still on the coast, Classic Swing have announced that they too will soon be adding their brand of "The Truth" at The Ship in Monkseaton - just up the street from the Monkseaton Arms where Rendezvous Jazz start up again on August 13.

You don't need to go to New Orleans or Chicago for your fix just do like them there sixteen vestal virgins did and start leaving for the coast - it's trad heaven (or vice versa according to taste). Lance
