Bebop Spoken There

John McLaughlin: '' A Love Supreme coincided with my search for meaning in life". (DownBeat, March 2025).

The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) North. (M & SSBB on F/book 23/12/24)

Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Interested? then please get in touch. Contact details are on the blog. Look forward to hearing from you. Lance

(Am) Jam with Sam

(Press release)

As you maybe aware the Am Jam Sessions will be starting again at the Globe in September on the second Sunday of the month (12th September) and I will be taking over Bernie Ranson’s role with leading and felicitating the sessions.

Below, I’ve attached a doodle pad link of each am jam session from September to December. I’d appreciate if you would fill out the sheet with your full name and chosen instrument or if you do not wish to play put in brackets (to watch). It’s imperative we do this because of COVID with keeping the numbers down to a minimum. To make this fair, we are going to have no more than 14 people in the room so 7 musicians/singers and 7 people to watch. I would also ask if you could make a contribution to the “Jazz Coop Donation” for as much or as little as you wish.

If there are any questions you need to ask, feel free to email me. Looking forward to seeing you again. Sam Young.
