This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Women in Jazz Media - Live at the Vortex

As Russell has pointed out in the previous post and as I did in an earlier one, tomorrow isn't just another day to jam on Gone With the Wind but it's International Jazz Day. A day especially important to The Jazz Co-op as its also their seventh birthday. 

Looking at the listings it is incredible to see the number of events taking place worldwide and it would be in effect an insult to all of the others to single out one individual happening. However, I'm going to do it anyway even if it means getting slagged off on Facebook (c'mon Lance, the jazz community is above that sort of palaver!).

I recently reviewed Esther Bennett's livestream launch of her latest EP and made especial mention of saxophonist Hannah Horton. Well, Hannah's all-girl quartet are doing a virtual gig in conjunction with the Vortex Jazz Club tomorrow under the heading of Women in Jazz Media - it should be well worth checking out. Lance
