Preview SSBB @ Hoochie Coochie

BSH has now clocked up 10,500 posts which is some kind of milestone (at times a millstone) and of which we are very proud. The actual post number 10,000 arrived around about Xmas 2018 which actually coincided with a review of Strictly Smokin' Big Band's Xmas Special at Hoochie Coochie. To be honest, it was probably post number 9,987 or thereabouts but, that's close enough for jazz!

So, as we head towards post number 11,000 it seems appropriate that SSBB should once more take centre stage.

Michael Lamb's powerhouse band's gigs at HC are never just mere gigs, leader Lamb invariably has an ace or two up his sleeve. Either a top class vocalist or instrumentalist to add to the team or, as is the case this coming Sunday (tomorrow) three top-class vocalists - Alice Grace, Jennifer Davies and Carly McKee. Add some new arrangements and a host of the area's top players standing (sitting) like 'greyhounds in the slips'* straining to get up and blow. As ever, Hoochie's the only game in town.
Lance
*  Henry V, Act 4, Scene 3.
Strictly Smokin' Big Band - Hoochie Coochie,  54 Pilgrim St., Newcastle NE1 6SF. 4:00pm (doors), 5:30pm (on stage). Sunday, June 23. £10.00.
