This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: Tony Bennett on BBC 2 (Saturday)

This evening (Saturday) BBC 2 devotes more than four hours' airtime to the late, great Tony Bennett. Five programmes, all of them repeats, but hey, this is the Tony Bennett. Starting at 9:00pm with Tony Bennett at the London Palladium: BBC Sessions (from 2011, marking Bennett's then 85th birthday) to Arena: Tony Bennett's New York (10:00pm) featuring David Hockney and Wynton Marsalis, followed by two editions of Tony Bennett Sings (11:20pm) to the evening's final programme (12:20am), from 2007 at LSO St Luke's, in London, Tony Bennett: BBC Sessions.
