This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Press release: Lisa Simone - A Daughter's Tribute

We are thrilled  to be staging Lisa Simone live in concert paying a musical tribute to her mother Dr. Nina Simone and even more thrilled to have her accompanied by the enormously gifted and brilliant NYJO on the 9th of October 2023 at Cadogan Hall. 

The concert, entitled 'Keeper of the Flame' Lisa Simone - A Daughter's Tribute to Dr. Nina Simone accompanied by the NYJO is the first of its type here in the United Kingdom. 

The 75 minute concert will largely feature Lisa performing her mother's most favourite songs and a selection of her own award-winning and critically acclaimed compositions which have achieved an Oscar nomination, the Peabody Award and an Emmy Award in remarkable career spanning over 3 decades.

Although we are almost 2 months away and only announced this concert several weeks ago the general admission tickets are almost sold out. 

However, hospitality packages are still available and include a pre-show champagne and hot and cold buffet reception with the added benefit of an after show meet and greet, photo opportunity and complimentary souvenir concert programme. 

These packages start from £99.00 per person including the concert ticket.
