This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. No Gin House Blues tomorrow. I said there ain't no Gin House Blues tomorrow...

The eagerly anticipated inaugural Gin House Blues Jam at the Albion Gin and Ale House in Jarrow that was scheduled for tomorrow has now been put on hold until April - no foolin'!

It was only by chance that I discovered via a message seeking confirmation that the gig was on that I became aware of this, seemingly, last minute cancellation. This I suppose is typical of so many one-off gigs. They tell me when it's on but don't get around to mentioning it when it's off which is, frankly, not on!

So, if you want BSH to flag up your gig, do let us know if it is cancelled. It does nothing for the reputation of the musicians, the venue and ourselves if folk turn up and find the performance area empty.

It's not just consideration, it's common, commercial, sense. Lance
