This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Doug Raney Quintet Live - The End of a Love Affair (Redding)


Were you at the Corner House in Heaton in 2004 for the gig by the Damon Brown/Doug Raney Quartet? Roly Veitch was but can't remember who the bass and drums were. Can you help?

The above YouTube clip has nothing to do with the Corner House gig but is a beautiful example of Raney's playing ensuring that the memory of his equally illustrious guitar playing father Jimmy Raney isn't forgotten. Lance

I found a photo of Damon Brown at the Corner House but wasn’t sure it was the same gig . However not to be beaten Ilooked at the National Jazz archive for 2004 and discovered the tour dates and band line up Steve Brown on drums and Dave Green on bass.
The photo in question was of Damon and Steve Grossman ! Pam
