This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: The Tenements head south of the border!

This weekend Edinburgh's Tenement Jazz Band will be making a lightning cross border raid. Today (Saturday) the boys will be in Darlington to play two gigs in a day. First up, at lunchtime (12:30), they'll be at Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club's temporary venue, the Forum Music Centre on Borough Road (£10.00. at the door). This evening (7:00) the Tenements have a 6th Street Swing engagement at the Mercure King's Hotel. Take your dancing shoes! Admission £15.00.

Sunday afternoon (3:00pm) the Tenements return to one of their favourite venues, Newcastle's Prohibition Bar on Pink Lane. It's free admission, donations the order of the day. Don't miss these guys, they're the business!

The word from Darlington's lunchtime concert is the Tenements were better than ever. Tomorrow (Sunday) at Prohibition Bar is going to be something special!

Yeah! There'll be a hot time in the toon this afternoon. At the Prohibition Bar, Pink Lane - doors at 2pm and the band will be rocking the room from 3pm.
