Bernie Ranson (tenor, alto sax, vocals); David Herbert (piano); Harry Husaini (5 string electric bass); Alan Wann (drums)
Four Play Blues is the title of one of the original compositions by four musicians who call themselves “Four” and who are currently playing regularly at The Exchange in North Shields….As well as this original we were treated to a selection of standards by four musicians who are gaining quite a following at this converted police station in Bedford Street.
A driving rhythm section and mellow saxophone gave us everything from
Jobim to Brecht via such standards as Autumn
Leaves, Moon River, Corcovado, Yardbird Suite and a beautiful How Insensitive from Bernie Ranson who
showed he can sing in both German and Portuguese.
Once again two solid hours of smooth jazz in a beautiful old building. There will be many other nights like this……I hope so…..catch them again on Dec. 1 - Sylvia

And if you're thinking of going to the Exchange on Saturday to see the East Coast Swing Band it's 'make your mind up time' with just ten remaining tickets up for grabs!
