This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Four @ The Exchange, North Shields - Nov. 10

Wednesday night at The Exchange North Shields…..it was billed as “cool jazz from the 1930s to the 1960s…ballads..blues..bebop and bossas”….and it did what it said on the tin….

A select (i.e. far too small) audience was treated to a selection of smooth jazz standards including Blue Bossa, Alice in Wonderland, Night and Day, Corcovado and There Will Never Be Another You from four musicians who are finding their feet on the local jazz scene….they call themselves “Four” and will be worth another listen when they return to The Exchange on November 24.

A lovely evening…a lovely venue…lovely music..what’s not to like? Sylvia.
