I've heard many duo recordings over the years but this is the first time I've been confronted with a double bass duet. And, if that weren't enough, the two players have opted to tune their instruments to A432 as opposed to the current standard pitch of A440.
A432 was in general use until Mozart's time and there was a general belief, I kid you not, that A432 had a healing effect on the listener's body. Perhaps if Mozart had stuck with the old tuning he'd have lived longer.
I must confess that I couldn't detect a noticeable difference in the pitch which in layman's terms is about a quarter of a tone and as for the healing properties I shall wait and see.
So, having got all of that out of the way, the actual music is quite interesting being a mix of standards and originals. I can't identify the individual players. Suffice to say that they are both fine technicians. The appropriately titled 432 is described as having overtone series on the bass with overdubs up to the seventh... hmmm.
Ron Carter is quoted as saying:"To the listeners out there, this CD is a great example that two can make great music!!"

Lance, I loved this review for it's sheer wit. The remark about Mozart possibly living longer made me laugh out loud, which we need to do in these Covid times. I hope you won't be too modest to print this comment!
