Bebop Spoken There

Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Interested? then please get in touch. Contact details are on the blog. Look forward to hearing from you. Lance

Spice of Life Jazz Club Update

(Press release)

After 18 years running the Club, including the last 18 months of enforced closure, I have reluctantly decided the time is right to hand over the reins to someone willing and able to carry on the good work. Accordingly well known drummer and entrepreneur Richard Pite will be taking over when the Club reopens on Monday 4th October.

Richard has considerable experience having presented quality jazz at venues such as Belgravia’s Boisdale and Sloane Square’s Cadogan Hall. Also, most importantly, his musical inclinations are closely aligned to ours.

That does not mean however I intend to disappear from the scene. In addition to supporting the Club I look forward to hearing plenty more great jazz, enjoying your company and downing the odd glass or two of McMullen’s excellent ale.

I would like to express particular thanks to all who have supported the Club over the years. We couldn’t have done it without you!

This is the programme for October, including some familiar faces, some maybe less so.

4     Enrico Tomasso & the Jack Honeyborne Trio

11     Alan Barnes & the Robin Aspland Trio

18    Vimala Rowe & the Gunther Kuermayer Trio

25    Pete Long & the Nick Dawson Trio

Timings will be the same: Venue doors 11am, Club doors 11.30am, Session 12.30-2-30pm. Adm. £10 (£9 MU & Students).

All the very best,

David Burr
