It would appear the former Newcastle and England centre forward was capable of adapting the footwork he showed on the field to the dance floor.
Assisting him in his terpsichorean movements were, I think, the Phoenix Jazzmen.
Charlie Carmichael on tenor, Ronnie Young on trumpet and vocals, both can be seen on stage.
Gordon Solomon and Jimmy Stewart were most probably on trombone and drums and the unseen bass player might have been a young, unknown guy called Gordon somebody or other.
Where you there? Lance

Hi Lance, it couldn't have been the Phoenix as this band broke up in 1979/1980, I think, and I joined the River City Jazzmen replacing Bob King. I remember Ronnie Young fronted a band with Charlie Carmichael and Ronnie MacLean around that time but I don't know who the other musicians were.
Ah! Another jazz mystery. Perhaps only Ronnie Young has the answer. Is anyone out there still in contact with him?
I met Charlie Carmichael a few times. Nice bloke, I liked him. Great player.
