Summer’s here – at last - and finally the music scene is
opening up again. Nonetheless, all the venues below are still taking
the pandemic very seriously and assure us that these concerts are safe for
customers and musicians alike.
Tues 3 August Pizza Express, Dean St London W1: Quintet Blue, featuring Denys Baptiste (tenor sax) and Nigel Price (guitar). Sat 14 August The Bear Club, Luton: Tony Kofi’s ‘A Portrait of Cannonball’ Alto boss Tony Kofi’s acclaimed tribute to saxophonist Cannonball Adderley returns with Andy Davies (trumpet), Alex Webb (piano), Andrew Cleyndert (bass) and Alfonso Vitale (drums). Their album, ‘Another Kind of Soul’, won the Presto Music prize for one the top jazz albums of 2020.
