This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Sun 4 Feb ENGINES ORCHESTRA feat. FEMI TEMOWO
The Engines Orchestra unites London’s most adventurous young classical, jazz, world and folk musicians in a community that works closely with other artists to push the boundaries and develop audiences for groundbreaking, new music. They work with composers from all genres, animators, filmmakers and dancers to create accessible ways into challenging environments. 

For this show they have teamed up with Nigerian-born guitarist Femi Temowo to perform music from his critically acclaimed 3rd solo release The Music is the Feeling. Known for his work with artists like Amy Winehouse, Dee Dee Bridgewater, The Roots and Soweto Kinch to name a few, Temowo's music explores a unique blend of afro, jazz and folk. 
His collaboration with Engines Orchestra results in a beautiful tapestry of head nodding grooves, contemplative melodies and heartfelt harmony delivered with a unique flair and a contagious feel-good mood that carries every audience along with them.
