This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Wes says 'Thank you'.


I'm just getting in touch to say a massive thank you to everyone for your involvement in the first 'Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised music'.

All of the feedback that I have received with regards to the festival has been very positive and we had great audiences right across the board for every gig, with three shows selling out we had to turn people away, it was busier than I think any of us could have predicted.
Whilst not all of the funding that was applied for was received, those additional ticket sales meant the losses were certainly manageable.
Artistically the music was absolutely brilliant, and the festival fulfilled it's ambition to bring the established audiences into the concerts, but also to encourage new listeners and create awareness of the different venues and promoters that are currently working in Newcastle no matter what the role, it takes the commitment of everyone involved to make something like this successful and the willingness to embrace the idea.
So, once again, many thanks for your support, I hope that this was the first of many.
