This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Hot Club du Nord @ Jazz Café - March 3











Emma Fisk (violin); James Birkett, Dave Harris (guitars); Bruce Rollo (bass).
As I posted earlier, I couldn't make this gig and nor could our other reviewers. However, as Mike Tilley sent photos and the word from those who were there was that it was 'something special' I felt it couldn't be allowed to pass without mention.
The musicians involved are top draw, especially when it's gypsy jazz.
Pam Young described it thus: "it really was a wonderful night. Mike T took photos but unfortunately no review. Shame as it was a full house, lovely crowd who were treated to a night of thrills from the fabulous Emma Fisk and James Birkett with Bruce Rollo and David Harris, AKA Hot Club Du Nord. Be sure to catch them next time."
